Parents
FL is a learning programme which aims to help young people get the skills they need to make progress into education, employment or training. An FL programme looks at each young person's individual needs, sets personal targets and provides support as they work to achieve their goals. FL offers a fresh approach to providing young people with the help they need to find their way forward in life.
How will it help?
The individual is at the heart of FL. All of the activities, from training to work placements, are designed to meet their needs. If they don't need it, they don't do it. FL gives young people the training, education and skills they need to enter the world of work.

Who is FL for?
FL is for young people have left school but are not yet 19 and who are not already employed, at college or in training. A young person between the ages of 19 and 24 may still be able to join FL. They should contact Connexions Tyne and Wear for more advice.

Taster sessions are also available. These sessions give exposure to different careers opportunities that are open to young people.
What kind of support is available?
FL helps young people on a one to one basis, in small groups, in group activities or in the workplace. Each young person will also have a Connexions Personal Adviser and an FL Key Worker who will support them through their programme and after it has finished. Progress is reviewed every month giving the young person a chance to meet with key workers and advisers and decide how things are going.
How long does an FL programme last?
